In Galicia a whole row of unique residences of former tycoons, mostly of Polish origins, are open to visit. These castles picturesquely fit into the surroungding landscapes, are richly adorned and have wonderful parks with oppulent sculptures. Our trip "The Golden Horseshoe" will make you asquainted with the most beautiful and most historical feudal seats in Galicia. Palaces that are entrenched in legends are waiting for you to discover. More: We will pick you up by car or minibus at your hotel. Our tripp will lead you to the village of Olessko, some 75 km east of Lviv. Long before reaching the village you are able to spot the castle rising up on a hill. Its history dates back into the 13th century. In the 16th century the former fortress was rebuilt in the style of the Renaissance. Jan Sobiesik, who later became King of Poland, was born here in 1629. For 34 years the castle was the royal residence. Today, pieces of art dating from the 10th to the 18th century are on display: sculputures, icons, paintings and furniture. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful park. You may opt to have lunch in the castle restaurant that is decorated in traditional ruthenic style. Our encaptivating trip will lead you to two architectural monuments in Pidhirzi and Solotschiw that are well worth visiting, too. In Pidhirzi we will visit a mansion dating from the 17th century. The castle of Solotschiw also dates from the 17th century. In the castle yard, the "Great Palace" and the "Chinese Palace" have been preserved. After extensive works of renovations the unique Chinese Palace has been reopened tot he public. After a day full of adventures we will bring you home to your hotel in Lviv. |
