The Kruschelnyzka Opera of Lviv is the largest and most renowned theatre of Lviv. The building the design of which has been inspired by the opera house of Vienna plays host to ballet and operas. These days, the program boasts 25 operas, 15 ballet events and 2 operetta in one year, for instance "Aida", "Nabucco", "Giselle", "Swan Lake" and "Rigoletto". Until today, the opera "Moses" that had its première in 2001, has only been shown in Lemberg. Pope John Paul II surprisingly attended the dress rehearsal of this opera on occasion to his visit to Lviv on 25/26 of June 2001.
