Visit of the old and new Jewish Quarter of the City, remains of the former main synagoge "Golden Rose", Memorial for the Jewish Victims of the Second World War, the former Jewish hospital, the former home of Scholom Alejchem, a well known Jewish writer who lived in Lviv for a short while etc. More: Visit of vul. Starojevrejskaja where in the middle of the 14th century the first Jews coming to Lviv settled down. Here is the site of the famous Golden Rose Synagoge built in 1582 and destroyed during the Nazi occupation. The tour guide will show you the remnants of the synagoge. A walk along the vul Krakivska willl take you to the Old Market. This is the site of the largest synagoe of the city: the Jewish Temple. The former Cassidian Synagoe at pl. Sv. Teodora is the center of Jewish culture today. A walk along the Vul. Spitalna to the north will bring you the places of the former Jewish quarter. Here you will find the house where Scholem Aleijchem, a classic writer of Jewish literature, was living.in 1906. Across Vul. Basarna you will arrive at the Cracovian Market. This square was the site of the old Jewish cemetary before the Second World War. Vul. Rappaporta leads along to the marquet square. House No. 8 ist adorned by an artful onionlike cupola. It is the former Jewish hospital. During our excursion we will visit the Monument for the Victims of the Lvivian Ghetto during the Second World War. |
