Excursion to Konopiste ( Konopište ) Castle

Let yourself be transported back to the 19 th century and to the romanticism of a residence of the successor to the Habsburg throne. A bout 40 km south of Prague is the Konopište castle, which was founded in the 14th century and was elaborately renovated in 1887 by Ferdinand d'Este, also known as Archduke Ferdinand , whose assassination in Sarajevo in 1914 sparked World War I. The castle is famous for its fascinating collection of furniture, weapons, hunting trophies and other objects of art.
