The name is deceptive. The "new city" that was founded in the 9th century is one of the oldest cities of Russia and already at the time of the Kievan Rus was an important trading metrolpolis. The mythical city streches along the banks of the Imen lake and at the source of the Volkhov river. Our guide will meet you at your hotel in St. Petersburg and will take you to Novgorod. On the way there our guide will introduce you to the history of Novgorod. There you will visit the Kremlin as well as Yaroslav's Court. Following a lunch break you will visit the Yuriev monastery and the openair museum of Wooden Architecture, where the guide will give you an insight into the Russian traditions...
