The village that is situated in an enchanting landscape of lakes, pinewoods and sandy beaches is named after the famous Russian painter Ilja Repin, who spent the last 30 years of his life. His house is now a museum, where visitors can not only have in insight into they way he lived but also see his studio as well as several paintings like an unfinished portrait of Pushkin and Repin's last self-portrait.
