The cosy little Hotel Mercury, which was the favorite hotel of former President Gorbachev during his presidency and currently is host to guests of the mayor of St. Petersburg, is located in a private residence in the historic part of the city near the Smolny Monastery. The windows of the hotel look onto the beautiful Taurida Park. All 16 rooms are equipped with a shower, toilet, TV and a telephone. A business center, public transport (metro station Chernishevskaia) and the city center are at close proximity.
